Voting open for Staffordshire Ambassador of the Year

1 min read

Five passionate Staffordshire advocates have been shortlisted for an award to recognise their hard work to promote the county as a great place to live, work, visit and study.

We Are Staffordshire, the place marketing delivery organisation for the county, has once again partnered with Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce to host their own ‘Staffordshire Ambassador of the Year’ category at the upcoming Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards – with the winners selected by the public, including Chamber members, businesses and supporters.

Earlier this year, Staffordshire Chambers was also confirmed as funding partners of We Are Staffordshire for 2024-25.

The five shortlisted Ambassadors have been selected by We Are Staffordshire’s Place Board from a 270+ network for their efforts to help to raise Staffordshire’s profile and put the county on the map, changing perceptions nationally and internationally.

The Ambassador of the Year award recognises businesses or individuals who have gone above and beyond to tell the Staffordshire story – taking part in events and working hard to promote the county wherever possible. This year’s five shortlisted Ambassadors are:

  • Martin Tideswell, Staffordshire University
  • David Hunter, Nelson’s Distillery and School
  • Karen Jennings, Lichfield Cathedral
  • Claire Williams, Stoke on Trent College
  • Cris Cohen, F E A S T E D

We Are Staffordshire Place Board member and Deputy Chief Executive of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Chris Plant said: “We’re delighted to join forces again with We Are Staffordshire for this award. It’s great to be able to recognise individuals who have gone the extra mile.

“Their passion for Staffordshire and showcasing what it has to offer shines through and they’re all worthy winners.”

Louisa Shaw, Head of Place Marketing at We Are Staffordshire said: “We Are Staffordshire simply wouldn’t be the organisation that it is – or have the impact that it has – without our army of Ambassador volunteers who help us have that reach both nationally and internationally.

“This award seeks to recognise the efforts not only of businesses and businesspeople, but individuals who have stuck their hand up and given their time to help change the perceptions of Staffordshire.

“Our five finalists truly embody what it means to be a Staffordshire Ambassador through supporting our events, speaking and hosting for us and promoting what we do, but as it’s open to public vote, to find our winner, we need you to vote for your Ambassador of the Year 2024!”

The winner will be announced at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Business Awards on Thursday 4th July 2024.
