It follows the resignation of Councillor Josh Newbury as Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member after he was elected as Member of Parliament for the Cannock Chase constituency at the General Election.

Councillor Tony Johnson, Leader of the Council said “I am sorry to lose Josh as my Deputy Leader, he has been an asset to the Council’s Cabinet.  However, I am delighted that he has been elected to Parliament and I’m sure he will be an excellent MP.

“I am pleased to welcome John as my Deputy Leader, and Maureen as the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and High Streets.  We have lots of big projects in the District and some challenging times ahead.”

Councillor Newbury will remain a Ward Councillor for Norton Canes until his term ends.
