Nominations are open for an awards scheme celebrating business excellence in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The LoveNUL Business Awards are returning for 2024 after an inaugural event last year was regarded as a great success, attracting thousands of votes and concluding with a ceremony attended by 180 local businesses and partners.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Business Improvement District (BID) has now invited residents and suppliers to put forward their favourite businesses across a range of sectors – with just a few days left to do so.

Businesses can also nominate themselves for the awards.

The categories are:

  • Visitor Attraction of the Year
  • Classic Pub of the Year
  • Bar/Night time venue of the Year
  • Restaurant of the Year
  • Market Trader of the Year
  • Café of the Year
  • Retailer of the Year
  • Professional Services of the Year
  • Best New Business
  • Independent Business of the Year
  • Beauty/Personal Care Business of the Year
  • LoveNUL Community Champion of the Year

Nigel Davies, Co-Chair of the Newcastle-under-Lyme BID Board and owner of Boss & Sons Barbers in Fogg Street, said: “Recognising local business achievements is vital for our town to grow and create a sense of pride and community.

“The LoveNUL Business Awards are a fantastic way for businesses to be acknowledged for their hard work and it’s also an amazing evening where we can all come together to socialise, network and strengthen the business community in Newcastle.”

This year’s event is headline sponsored by Keele University, with additional support from KMF Group, Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, New Vic Theatre, and Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG).

To be eligible to enter, businesses must be located within the Newcastle-under-Lyme BID Boundary area – roughly the town centre and outer ring road.

Nominations must be submitted before midnight on Sunday, 29 September.

The winners for all but the LoveNUL Community Champion of the Year award will be decided by a public vote which will open on Friday, 4 October and close on Wednesday, 16 October. Nominees in this category will be shortlisted and decided by the judging panel of the Newcastle-under-Lyme BID Board.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Keele University on Thursday, 24 October.
