More than £23,000 of funding has been allocated to improving a Staffordshire village’s high street.
Planned works for Chadsmoor High Street include repairing street furniture – such as bollards, bins, lampposts and bike stands – around the war memorial and car park.
Additional enhancements will see the installation of new planters, ‘Welcome to Chadsmoor’ signs, a thorough cleaning of the pavements the re-marking of lines in the car park on the corner of Burns Street and the installation of a memorial bench.
Work in the village, which is between Cannock and Hednesford, is expected to start next month thanks to the allocation of £23,100 in Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) ward funding.
Councillor Maureen Freeman Portfolio Leader for Regeneration and High Streets at Cannock Chase District Council, said: “These enhancements are not only about improving the look of Chadsmoor, but also about fostering a sense of pride and community spirit.
“It will make Chadsmoor a cleaner and more welcoming place for both residents and visitors.
“This is a great example of how CIL funding can be used to directly benefit our local neighbourhoods.”
CIL is a financial charge that local councils can impose on new developments within their area.
The purpose is to help fund infrastructure projects that are necessary to support the growth and development of the community.
This can include improvements to roads, parks, schools, and public services, as well as environmental enhancements.
Funds raised through CIL are reinvested into the local area, ensuring that as new developments arise, they contribute to the wellbeing and sustainability of the community.
