A major scheme to upgrade a main road junction close to a business park in Lichfield is set to begin next week.
Work on the A5192 Eastern Avenue junction with Watery Lane is taking place to provide access to the new Redrow Homes Curborough Lakes development, which will have nearly 470 properties.
It will begin on Monday, 27 January and is scheduled for completion in late November.
Junction upgrades will include additional lanes, new traffic lights, road resurfacing, new and improved paths, signs and road markings and improved drainage.
Traffic management – including temporary signals, lane closures and some road closures – will be in place throughout the scheme and Staffordshire County Council has told motorists that details will be publicised as the project progresses.
The junction is situated close to Eastern Park business park and not far from Imperial Retail Park.
Mark Deaville, the county council’s cabinet member for strategic highways, said: “The upgrade to this junction is needed to provide safe access off the busy Eastern Avenue onto Watery Lane and what will be a substantial new homes development.
“This developer-funded scheme is scheduled for a late autumn finish and there will be some disruption during the works, so we’d like to thank people in advance for their patience.
“We will keep people updated on progress and changes to traffic management throughout the scheme.”
More information is available on the scheme webpage.
