Stoke-on-Trent lands spot in Time Out’s 15 best places to visit in the UK in 2025 list

A global brand has declared Stoke-on-Trent one of the top places to visit in the UK in 2025, bringing a massive boost to the city as it celebrates its centenary year.

Time Out’s The 15 best places to visit in the UK 2025 list features popular tourist destinations such as York, Cardiff and Liverpool but Stoke-on-Trent sits in third place below Folkestone and Stratford.

Time Out writes: “2025 will mark 100 years of Stoke-on-Trent being a proper city – and there’s frankly no better time to visit.

“For a long time Stoke has been unfairly dismissed as one of Britain’s more downtrodden cities, but it’s time our opinions changed.

“Few corners of the country are as packed full of culture and heritage as the Potteries, and yet somehow, despite being world-famous for ceramics (and a nickname to boot) Stoke still doesn’t quite get the attention it deserves.”

The city’s listing as one of the ‘top spots to check out this year’ describes its six towns as ‘a trove of odes to pottery-making past and present’ and points visitors in the direction of Gladstone Pottery Museum, the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, Middleport Pottery and factory outlets for Royal Stafford, Wedgwood and Duchess China.

But other gems of the city are also mentioned, such as London Road Oatcakes, heritage walks along the Trent and Mersey Canal and nature spots including The Trentham Estate.
