A Stoke-on-Trent florist is expanding its business by opening a second store in the city.
Parsley and Sage, which was founded in 1996, is opened a new shop in Longton Exchange on Saturday. Its existing store on Trentham Road in Dresden will continue to operate at this time – although owner Candie Scanlon says she may eventually decide to move over to the town centre shop entirely.
Known for its floral arrangements, the business has taken over the unit previously occupied by Keep It Local in the town centre shopping precinct, and has refurbished the store ‘from floor to ceiling’.
The shop promises to become a social hub and features armchairs, a coffee machine and a record player, while there is space on the first floor for a showroom and teaching area. Customers will also be able to pull up directly to the back door to collect their order.
Candie said: “I was invited to come down and have a look by the Longton Exchange team and feel very positive about it. There is a great feeling about Longton at the moment – I’m looking out of the window and it’s packed.
“We don’t have as much space at the Dresden shop, there’s little passing trade and people can have difficulty parking – so we might end up making a full move to Longton.”
Candie will be looking to take on additional staff to join the team. She also plans to hold seasonal events, classes, children’s parties and classes for people with additional needs in the upstairs space.
A spokesperson for Longton Exchange said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome this incredible, design-led florist to our family.”
