Comedy night set to raise funds for community projects to improve life in North Staffordshire

A not-for-profit organisation that aims to transform community life in North Staffordshire is set to hold a comedy night to raise fund for vital grassroots projects.

Social Connective CIC was launched in January 2023 with a mission to make events and activities in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas more accessible, inclusive and sustainable. Since then, the small team has delivered everything from free CPR sessions to repair cafés and green family days, all aimed at strengthening local connections and promoting wellbeing.

And now the group is set to hold a stand-up comedy night on Saturday, 14 June, at Biddulph Town Hall, in partnership with Me & Mrs Jones Comedy

Sam Burns, of Social Connective, said: “To support our community projects, we run subsidised events with the profits all going back into the projects. We particularly focus on bringing things into the local area which would otherwise not usually run and ensuring that the events are inclusive and accessible.

“We are passionate about Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area and are committed to contributing to the revitalisation of the communities we live in.”

The line-up for the upcoming comedy night includes Alun Cochrane, who is the co-host of The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio, Louise Young and Al Stevenson, alongside compere Dave Twentyman.

The event is part of Social Connective’s wider programme, which includes a free monthly Repair Café in Biddulph and collaborations with groups like the Portland Inn Project and Biddulph Youth Zone.

Tickets for the comedy night, which cost £10 plus booking fee, are available here.
