Personalised bone china mugs made in Stoke-on-Trent were the highlight of an exclusive gift pack presented to President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania to mark the second day of their state visit to the UK.

Staff at the Prime Minister’s country residence Chequers asked Susan Rose China, which makes and decorates its ware in Longton, for ideas for a very special commemorative piece.

The business, which already supplies merchandise to the country estate in Buckinghamshire which is gifted or sold to visitors, provided designs for the mugs and some exclusive Christmas baubles.

These were made and proudly included in a hamper of Chequers gifts including jam and champagne.

Charles Rose, of Susan Rose China, said the special designs for President Trump were personalised, “blinged up” versions of the original designs for Chequers.

He said: “We’re delighted that fine English bone china mugs and baubles made, decorated and personalised for the President and First. Lady, were included in the package.”
