University of Staffordshire to showcase its range of business support

Guests at a free University of Staffordshire event later this week will be able to hear about ongoing business support it offers to businesses.

The event on Thursday, 12 March, is being staged to showcase the success of two UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) projects delivered across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

And there will be the chance to find out more about ongoing support provided by the university, which includes apprenticeships, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, recruitment and state-of-the-art facilities.

Project Manager Justin Pover said: “This event will bring together the departments and partners supporting local businesses and individuals across Staffordshire and offers an opportunity to reflect on the impact of our UKSPF-funded projects over the last year.

“From innovation and digital adoption, to skills development and business growth, these programmes have helped students, professionals and businesses build confidence, capability and momentum.”

He added: “It is a fantastic opportunity for more businesses to hear about the range of ways that we can support them here at University of Staffordshire, as well as providing the opportunity to network with likeminded individuals.”

The Advanced and Digital Technologies Innovation Accelerator programme, delivered via Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, supported 26 Newcastle-based businesses across a range of industries to adopt advanced and digital technologies.

Meanwhile, the Stoke-on-Trent Higher Skills Accelerator, delivered via Stoke-on-Trent City Council, has equipped people with new skills to take into the workplace.

The university delivered 30 masterclasses covering topics including digital marketing at AI to over 400 people from the city and over 550 people from across Staffordshire.

The businesses, academics and students who took part in some of the projects will be at the event to discuss the benefits and share their experiences.

The event runs between 9am and 12.30pm, closing with a free buffet lunch and networking opportunities.
