Fast-growing storage container company Lock Stock Self Storage has invested around £200,000 into its first site in Staffordshire.

The firm’s new one-acre storage park on a former waterworks site on Uttoxeter Road in Stoke-on-Trent will feature 140 units when it opens in early July.

The new facility is the latest step in Lock Stock Self Storage’s expansion strategy that has seen the company move into Cheshire, Merseyside and other new markets.

Lock Stock says a Stoke-on-Trent site has been on its radar ‘for some time’ due to growing demand from households and businesses.

The business is currently scouting suitable locations elsewhere in Staffordshire, whilst offering £5,000 for any successful lead on potential land.

Area manager Richard Warner said: “We are thrilled to open a site in Staffordshire for the first time.

“It is our first venture into the county, which is really exciting for us, and boosts our presence in the West Midlands.

“The site brings undeveloped land into use and is in a fantastic location on one of the main roads into Stoke.

“Stoke is a market we have been eyeing for a while and is somewhere where there is demand for storage.

“When this site came along, it was something we were really keen to pursue.”

Lock Stock was founded by brothers Shon and Nick Powell in 2000 and started out with a single site in Denbigh. It now operates more than 35 sites and has over 5,700 storage units.

The company estimates nearly 30% of those units are used by a variety of businesses for storing materials, stock and equipment.

Units at the new Stoke-on-Trent site are between 10 and 40-foot long.

A handful of jobs have been created, and work to complete the site has been carried out in partnership with local companies such as plant hire firm Mincrete.
