Free health checks have been offered to professional drivers on the M6toll in Staffordshire as part of a national campaign aimed at improving conditions across the haulage industry.
The toll road operator backed the Road Haulage Association’s Driver Health Week with HGV Drivers offered access to a qualified doctor and a range of free health assessments, support and advice at Roadchef Norton Canes yesterday (2 September).
The event was designed to make health support more accessible to drivers while they are on the road and links with Driver Health Week which aims to highlight the link between the physical and mental wellbeing of professional drivers, road safety and the resilience of the haulage and logistics sector.
Sara Gourley, Head of Business Development at M6toll, said: “Professional drivers play a vital role in keeping the country moving, but the demands of life on the road can make it difficult to prioritise their own health and wellbeing.

M6toll will continue its involvement with Driver Health Week by attending a Driver Health Day at Loughborough University tomorrow (4 September), where representatives from government, transport, healthcare and academia will discuss the future of driver health and wellbeing.
