Two new categories have been added to the Visit Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Tourism Awards after the scheme attracted a record number of entries for a second consecutive year.
The new categories will recognise both paid and free-entry tourism and events and festivals, highlighting the role they play in attracting visitors, supporting communities and showcasing local culture.
Organiser of the awards have also announced that shortlisted entries in both categories will go forward to a public vote.
Martin Murray, leader of Staffordshire County Council, said: “Receiving a record number of applications for the second year running is a fantastic achievement.
“It demonstrates the passion, innovation and excellence that exists across our amazing visitor economy.
“The quality of entries continues to impress our judging panel and reinforces our reputation as a must-visit destination, the nation’s playground, and the beating heart of the country.”
This year’s awards have attracted 165 entries.
Entries for the two new categories are open until 31 October 2026.
Finalists from the public vote will be announced alongside those in all other categories at the Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Tourism & Hospitality Summit on 28 January 2027.
The overall winners will then be announced at the awards ceremony in March 2027.
