Jennifer Lopez and Jamie Oliver among fans of Staffordshire designer’s spinning tops

A design company whose precision‑engineered spinning tops and desk objects have attracted customers including Jennifer Lopez and Jamie Oliver is preparing to launch a new range of products.

Vorso, based in Kings Bromley, was founded in 2015 by designer Will Cutler, who brought the brand to life through a Kickstarter campaign that hit its funding target in just 32 hours.

The company’s first product — the Mk1 spinning top — attracted more than 240 backers across 15 countries, setting the tone for a business that has since shipped to most countries worldwide. It is priced from £52.

The company has seen £500,000 invested in it since it was formed, and had an early claim to fame. Will said that from 2016 to 2017, before the worldwide craze exploded, bespoke fidget spinners were being sold exclusively from Staffordshire.

The company’s journey began at a moment of personal uncertainty.

He said: “Just before we began 11 years ago, I didn’t really know what the future would hold, but I had the idea for Vorso and luckily we had a successful Kickstarter campaign, which I’ll always be extremely grateful for.

“Since then, it has grown and grown and we are excited for what the future holds. We were actually the first company to be selling bespoke crafted fidget spinners before the craze began as well.

“We’ve made items for celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Jamie Oliver and even members of the Royal Family in Saudi Arabia. I think we’ve shipped to most countries in the world too.”

Both celebrities bought the MK1 polished brass spinning top with rubies. Will isn’t sure how they discovered the company, but added that they’ve been featured in YouTube videos in America which have had millions of views.

Vorso’s tops are known for their engineering‑led design, combining a 28mm metal body with a precision contact point. Each piece is made using CNC machining, followed by careful assembly and hand finishing — a process that has helped the brand build a loyal global following.

The business now employs four people and is entering a new development phase.

Will added: “We are continuing to grow and our next development phase includes new fidget and spinning products, which we’ve been developing for the last four years and we are hopeful of releasing in 2027.”
