Plans have been drawn up to complete the redevelopment of a Stoke-on-Trent business park, which could create new business space, attract investment and support jobs in the city.
A planning application submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council proposes the latest phase of improvements at Park Hall Business Village, off Park Hall Road.
The plans involve the demolition of ageing commercial buildings, to be replaced with four modern units for industrial, storage and distribution uses, alongside ancillary offices.
The scheme covers around 1.3 hectares in the south-western part of the business village and represents the fifth and final phase of its redevelopment.
Three of the new commercial units have dedicated end users, while the smallest will be built speculatively. Documents submitted with the planning application say positive enquiries have already been received for the speculative space.
The buildings will provide a combined 6,193 sq m of commercial space, with a subsidiary of Marcus Machine and Tools expected to increase its presence at the site by occupying two of the units.
A planning statement prepared by JMI Planning for Marcus Machine and Tools and Forte Architectural reads: “The scheme seeks the redevelopment of dilapidated commercial units on an existing brownfield site.
“The replacement units will be built to modern standards and will provide for attractive commercial space, increasing the attractiveness of both Park Hall Business Village and the city as a whole to new investors and encouraging significant investment and job opportunities in the local area.”
The applicants say Marcus Machine and Tools Limited has invested significantly in the business village and remains committed to its future retention and improvement as an employment location.
A decision on the plans is expected to be made by council officers using delegated powers in the coming weeks.
