A range of nursing, health-related and support jobs are being created locally at a new £1.75 million care home for adults with learning disabilities.
ECHO Group is looking to appoint five registered nurses – some in clinical-lead roles – 10 support workers and several part-time housekeepers to work at Falcon House in Stafford. It is expected more support workers will be employed further down the line.
The six-bed facility off Hawksmoor Road is set to open in March and is being developed in partnership with builders Seddon Group. It features three lounge/communal areas, a private garden, an assisted bathroom and kitchen.
The recruitment coincides with the latest labour market figures for Staffordshire which show that the biggest demand is for jobs in social care – followed by a high demand for nurses (full story here).
Meanwhile, Cheryl Maitland, pictured above, has been appointed Registered Manager for the new care home.
Cheryl qualified as a Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities from the University of Wolverhampton in 2016 after working as a Support Worker for five years. She has gained experience in both hospital and community settings, supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and additional complex needs.
Cheryl has completed Autism Champion training and will be delivering it to all staff joining the service.
She said: “I am really pleased to have the opportunity to manage Falcon House, a brand-new service that will offer local people the chance to remain in their own community, close to family and friends.
“It is both exciting and challenging to be developing a new service and I am looking forward to building a fantastic staff team and working with commissioners ahead of welcoming service users early next year.”
