Business apprentice and rugby union player Samantha Williams is taking centre stage for her company by helping share her career highlights with the next generation of potential recruits.

Samantha, 21, is taking on the role of National Apprenticeship Week ambassador for JCB and is urging young people to consider a career with the world leading construction equipment manufacturer.

Former Trentham High School student Samantha, who also plays for Leicester Tigers’ senior women’s squad, is encouraging local school-leavers and people considering a career change to follow in her footsteps and kickstart a career with JCB.

Business Administration Apprentice Samantha studied BTEC Sport and Exercise Science before joining JCB in September 2021.

Samantha, from Fenton, explained: “I chose the business administration apprenticeship because it fitted my skills the best and I knew the JCB apprenticeship would develop me as a person.

“What’s great is that you get an insight into many different areas of the business. I am currently working alongside the Early Careers team in the recruitment process for new apprentices and graduates starting with us in September 2023 and because I’ve been in their shoes I have a real understanding of what it’s like for them.”

JCB is holding an Apprenticeships Open Day on Saturday, February 11. It will take place at the company’s Global Learning Centre based at its world headquarters in Rocester.

Samantha added: “The open day will give visitors a real understanding of what life is like at JCB and it is a brilliant opportunity to meet apprentices from right across the company – whether you’re interested in engineering, welding or, like me, building a career in business.”

JCB Early Career Talent Manager Neil Fowkes said: “National Apprenticeship Week really gives us the chance to shine the spotlight on our brilliant young people.  They are the best ambassadors for our programme and a real inspiration for anyone considering a career in engineering, manufacturing or business with us.”
