New board directors sought to help tackle climate change and inequality

An influential body, which aims to make the region more sustainable, fairer and greener for all, is recruiting for new board directors. 

Sustainability West Midlands (SWM) is a not-for-profit organisation with more than 150 member organisations from the private, public and third sector including many local authorities and business in Staffordshire. 

Its vision is to see the West Midlands region lead in contributing to the national target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 while addressing health inequality and driving inclusive growth. 

The new board members are sought from all walks of life and with all skills and experiences. They will help to achieve organisational growth, increase the impact of Sustainability West Midlands and help broaden its funding base.     

Chief Executive Anna Bright said: “Our board are critical to the success of Sustainability West Midlands sharing their skills and experience to help us grow, and make a lasting difference to the future of the West Midlands.” 

Andrew Pollard, Chair of the SWM Board, said: “It is great of be part of a collaborative, purpose-led organisation that supports the leaders of the West Midlands in delivering on sustainability.  

“At the same time, I gain a lot from working with colleagues with diverse business and life experiences on the Board.” 

Closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 10 March. The body intends to notify shortlisted candidates within two weeks of the closing date.
