Business leaders called on to become champions of Burton

1 min read

An appeal has gone out for business leaders and influencers to unite and help showcase the best of an east Staffordshire town.

It follows the launch of The Burton upon Trent story – a collaborative approach to promoting its distinctiveness, character and opportunities.

Now passionate advocates have the opportunity to join a new Champions programme, which is seen as a key way to connect businesses, organisations and individuals from across the town, into a powerful network of voices to promote Burton upon Trent.

In what will be regular meetings, Champions will be able to hear about new initiatives, developments and success stories from the people that are making them happen.

Alongside this, there will be opportunities to create relationships that will benefit both individuals and Burton upon Trent, to influence and learn about the place, act as a spokesperson for it and perhaps to develop initiatives with each other.

John Beaty, Interim Place Board Chair and Principal of Burton and South Derbyshire College, said: “We are lucky in that Burton upon Trent already has many individuals and companies who are quietly great Champions for our wonderful area, who promote the place, speak up for it and are keen to help move it forward.

“We want to build on their fantastic contribution and we want more of them, so we can create a powerful and compelling ‘team Burton upon Trent’ approach.

“Collaboration has never been more important and I’m excited to see what we can achieve.”

Cllr Adam Clarke, East Staffordshire Borough Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Business Support and Marketing, said: “The people of Burton upon Trent are being asked to join together and help make this great town even better.

“A collaborative approach allows us to identify the many views and opinions of local residents and business owners, bringing forward ways in which the town can continue to grow going forward.”

The first Champion’s event will be held at Burton Rugby Club on Wednesday 24th May from 9am-11am.
