An international Newcastle-under-Lyme-based firm which helps protect domestic cats from danger has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.
ProtectaPet, founded in 2014 by Eve and Simon Davies, offers revolutionary preventative cat care which enables cats to access a safe, outdoor territory and cat owners to experience total peace of mind.
ProtectaPet have designed more than fifty cat-fencing products and have a portfolio of patents and unique designs, with many of their products made in Britain and exported globally.
The story of the business dates back to 2007 when Eve and Simon adopted Lola, a rescue kitten only to sadly lose her in a road traffic collision when she was two years old.
It was Lola’s premature death that inspired Simon to design a unique range of cat fence barriers, “catios” and cat enclosures which enable cats to explore their owners’ gardens and outdoor spaces safely.
The modular cat fencing solutions are customisable to each customer’s garden layout, with both DIY product and professional installation options available.
Co-director Eve said: “We are honoured and delighted to receive The King’s Award for Enterprise – an internationally recognised endorsement for our product.
“At ProtectaPet, we have all worked so hard to advance attitudes to cat companionship and educate our audience on the proven benefits of controlled cat territories.
“ProtectaPet is a result of many great minds coming together to revolutionise care for cats and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the early adopters of our cat fencing solutions and those who have promoted us on this journey from vets, charities, Universities and owners.
“In the UK alone, we have kept more than 30,000 cats enriched and safe. Now, we can look forward to extending the benefits of our solutions to many more cats and owners around the world.”
From today, ProtectaPet will proudly fly The King’s Award flag at their headquarters and they are entitled to display the emblem on their promotional material for the next five years.
