Three popular Staffordshire destinations have been announced as finalists competing at the tourism industry’s annual national Awards for Excellence.
The National Memorial Arboretum, The Trentham Estate, and The Duncombe Arms are three of 48 finalists from around the country picked by industry experts.
They have been chosen following success at the regional awards ceremony, held in March and reported in Daily Focus.
The national awards ceremony – a black tie event – is being held at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter on 7 June, where Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced.
National Memorial Arboretum, in Alrewas, is hoping for success in the Business Events Venue of the Year category, whilst The Duncombe Arms, in Ellastone, is in the running for the Pub of the Year title.
Carol Adams, Head of Horticulture and Biodiversity at The Trentham Estate, is up for the Unsung Hero Award. She was nominated following work that she put into planning and delivering the reintroduction of beavers to the estate.
VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes said: “This impressive list of finalists demonstrates the innovation and excellence thriving across England’s tourism industry.
“The quality and number of applications also highlights the outstanding range of products and experiences on offer for both domestic and international visitors.
