GivEnergy pledges commitment to full UK manufacturing as it launches new range of money saving products

Leading energy storage manufacturer GivEnergy has unveiled a new generation of its hybrid inverter products – just as it celebrates moving to a new UK HQ based in North Staffordshire.

The company has also made a commitment to relocate all manufacturing to the UK and revealed a timescale on its move to two factories in Stoke-on-Trent, which will generate hundreds of jobs.

The third-generation hybrid inverters work as ‘the brains’ of a battery storage system (which also includes solar PV panels and a home battery). GivEnergy says that on average residential customers can save up to 85 per cent a year on energy bills by having one of these systems installed.

GivEnergy’s new inverters, pictured above, which are available in power capacities of 3.5kW and 5.0kW, represent five years of research and development, and boast improved efficiency and boosted performance.

“We’re incredibly proud to continue our legacy of providing best-in-class sustainable energy solutions”, said Jason Howlett, GivEnergy CEO. “The aim of the Gen-3 hybrid inverter range is to provide the most technologically efficient product currently possible. We believe we’ve achieved just that.

“As customers increasingly look to take back control over their energy spend, the demands on storage systems have increased.

“The GivEnergy hybrid inverter Gen-3 is built to meet these heightened demands, providing an even more efficient solution for a sustainable future.”

Currently, GivEnergy’s manufacturing takes place in China. But the company is in the process of relocating to North Staffordshire – with a £15 million investment in two factories on Chemical Lane, Stoke-on-Trent.

The first factory will be used to manufacture commercial systems and will employ around 30 people – of which 20 will be new jobs. Work is progressing on this plant and the aim is to move in from September.

Pending planning permission, work on the second factory will begin in January 2024 and is expected to be completed by the final quarter of that year. It will manufacturer electric vehicle chargers and inverters and upwards of 200 people will be employed at this site.

Following that, GivEnergy has said that the long-term goal is to manufacture everything in the UK – including storage batteries.

Meanwhile, the company has just moved into a new corporate headquarters in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Osprey House, on Brymbo Road, pictured above, is now home to 60 employees with plans to create at least 40 more jobs before the close of 2023.

The new base will serve as GivEnergy’s UK HQ and hosts the firm’s office-based staff, customer support personnel, software and app developers and the finance, HR sales and marketing teams.
