A Stoke-on-Trent-based design and marketing agency has played a pivotal promotional role in the UK launch of the world’s first saliva pregnancy test.
Lawrence Davis has designed the packaging and branding as well as devised the marketing campaign and social media strategy for the pioneering Salistick™.
The Salistick™, pictured above, is billed as providing a more hygienic and convenient way of carrying out a rapid pregnancy test compared to the traditional urine-based test, which was first introduced in the 1970s.
Developed by Lawrence Davis’s client – leading diagnostic company Abingdon Health Plc – in partnership with Israeli-based Salignostics Limited, it is said to be more than 96 per cent accurate and gives a reading within five to 15 minutes.
Initially, it will be available online at Abingdon Simply Test and Superdrug.com in addition to being available in 400 Superdrug stores in the UK and Ireland.
Content devised by Lawrence Davis includes a series of colourful poster bearing slogans such as: “Results in a whizz… Without having to take one.” and “For when you want to know… But don’t have to go.”.
Social media messages designed by the agency have also appeared in post, image and video form on platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
Lawrence Davis Director Dawn Bezus said: “The Lawrence Davis Team are extremely proud to have been involved in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play a fundamental part in the branding of this amazing evolutionary pregnancy test.
“Our team of very experienced designers have applied their creative expertise to maximise the commercial impact of this product that could, ultimately, be sold globally. This has put our Stoke-on-Trent based agency firmly on the map.”
The product works by detecting the pregnancy hormone hCG which travels from the blood to saliva. A swab is used to collect a saliva sample which is then transferred to a container unit marked with a lateral flow indicator.
It is seen as the only major advancement in pregnancy testing worldwide for decades. The first at-home urine pregnancy tests (The Atlantic) were first available in 1976.
Chris Yates, CEO at Abingdon Health said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of Salistick™ and the roll-out of the product initially across 400 Superdrug stores and online.
“This novel technology provides women with an enhanced user experience; offering the ability to test anywhere, anytime, and for the testing experience to be shared with a partner and other loved ones.”
