A Staffordshire flooring specialist, with around four decades of experience in retail, has set up a new consultancy.

Huw Chapman is going it alone after a long and successful career in retail management. And he is not only pledging to save money for families and commercial customers but work with skilled local traders too.

The Endon-based business owner says a combination of high-level knowledge and a lean business model are his winning formula as he looks to make the new venture a success.

Huw says that working as a specialist freelance consultant means he can search the market, work flexibly and offer bespoke, specialist solutions for homes, offices or retail premises, from floor tiles through to luxury carpets and the latest wooden and synthetic flooring products.

“I’m a familiar face on the retail scene to many having worked hard to make the United Carpets stores in Fenton and Shrewsbury a success, but I wanted a final challenge in my career,” said Huw.

“I’ve started again as a freelance flooring consultant and that means I can use all my sector knowledge to get customers the best deal possible.

“It’s just me, working from home, so I have less overheads and, by combining that with market knowledge, I’m able to provide a bespoke service at a very competitive price.”

Huw, who has also run major stores for Allied Carpets, is aiming to provide solutions for both householders and business.

Huw added: “I have a range of contacts with suppliers and lots of samples for customers to see.

“Working independently also allows me to partner with skilled trades and craft workers, such as carpenters, so I’m planning to help other small businesses too.”

  1. Hi Huw
I was very interested in reading about your background in flooring. I have recently had my Patent Published for a safer and sustainable sports surface with the potential for multi sports application. I have also been accepted onto the FIFA Innovation Program to carry out case studies to evidence who benefits most and why performing on the Synergy System. Synergy is the next step in the evolution of artificial turf systems that mimic not only the appearance but also the feeling of natural pristine manicured turf with a healthy established root zone. If you’re interested in exploring a new challenge and talking about it. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
