Specialist set to expand Stone-based business helping young disabled babies with holistic healing

A former Special Education Teacher who has travelled the world to hone her skills is set to expand her business offering therapy for disabled babies.

Very Special Children, run by Agi Palinkas, helps young babies and children with additional needs move more easily.

Hungarian-born Agi, who lives in Stone, spent 17 years in Special Education classrooms before travelling round the UK – and the world – to widen her knowledge of healing techniques.

She has a qualification from the world-famous Andras Peto Faculty in Budapest and has spent time widening her educational horizons in Chile, Spain, USA, Thailand and Ireland.

“I decided to find an answer for my questions and I discovered that habilitation ( intervention for birth and intrauterine injuries) and rehabilitation ( injury after achieving function) is the most successful when it starts at the nearest time of the injury,” she said.

“It is important to stimulate under-developed and developing inner sensory areas as well as the external skeletal-muscular systems at the same time.”

Mum-of-two Agi, pictured above, became a full-time independent integrative movement and learning specialist in 2019, and she is set to expand by offering small group work and nursery movement development programmes.

She has qualifications in conductive education, developmental baby massage/ therapeutic play, Cuevas MEDEK Exercises, Hallowick Swimming for disabled, yoga for special needs and Child’Space movement exploration.

“As a specialist I have had the opportunity to work with children and adults with neurological disorders,” said Agi.  “I know that movement is so much more than motions and changing places and positions.  Organic life at any point of the evolution starts with movement and stays alive by movement.”

“I hope one day I could collaborate and support the work of development and children centres in the Midlands and nationally. It’s every family’s right to give the best possible start for their children.”

Very Special Children has recorded many successes involving very young children with specific mobility needs, helping them become independent learners and reach their full potential.

Six-month-old Ebonie with severe development delay and heart condition started walking independently after 16 months.

Louis who started working with Agi just before his second birthday with genetic disorder started walking after two years.

“I am a friend, a listener, advisor, consultant, a practitioner, an advocate messenger of hope and success,” said Agi.

“My message to everyone is that we all carry the formula of happy, independent life. All babies are born to move and to move on.

“With perseverance and openness we can beat the impossible. By starting on time, we can prevent or reduce motor, social, emotional and learning difficulties.”
