Consultation still open on Stafford Borough Council’s future plans

1 min read

Businesses still have time to send in their views on draft policies and proposals for new development in Stafford Borough over the next two decades.

The Borough Council is consulting on its Local Plan 2020-2040 Preferred Options document, with the cut-off point for submissions fixed at 12 noon on Monday December 12.

Views are being sought on how new levels of housing and employment land should be distributed.

The public also has the chance to comment on proposed development allocations including Stafford Station Gateway and a new garden community for 3,000 new homes initially at Meecebrook, near to Yarnfield and Eccleshall.

Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce are calling for a high-quality housing mix across the Borough, including affordable and high-value accommodation.

“Attracting new employers into the area will need to be supported by a broad, sustainable and ‘open door’ strategy for regeneration and inward investment,” said Declan Riddell, Stafford Chamber of Commerce Manager and Policy Adviser.

“We would like to see more quality employment sites and good connectivity to keep people and goods moving freely across the area.”
