Stoke City Football Club is advertising for a sports scientist to help boost the performance of its first team.

The new recruit will liaise with the coaching staff, players and wider medical department staff to formulate a series of player goals.

The Potters, who are currently 18th in the Championship after a mixed season so far, have said that the ability to enhance performance is essential in the role.

Also critical is as an extensive understanding of the demands of the English Football League.

Reporting to the Head of Sports Science at the club, the First Team Sports Scientist will have input into pre-training preparation, training load and nutrition.

Responsibilities will include managing the collection and interpretation of training load data and measuring player performance.

Working as part of the sports science team, the expert will help roll out nutritional and hydration strategies for players during rehabilitation, preparation for games and travel.

Applications close on January 30 for the post, which became vacant recently.
