A craft distillery’s gin has clinched a prize described as “an ultimate endorsement in the global spirits industry.”
Nelson’s Distillery & School, near Uttoxeter, won a silver medal at the sixth London Spirits Competition for its Nelson’s London Dry No.7.
The competition – held in London – differs from others by awarding spirits for their drinkability. They are also assessed for their quality appearance and value.
Nelson’s London Dry No.7 scored highly in the judging aspects of quality, value and packaging.
The judging panel of 2023 was drawn from leading spirits industry professionals with direct commercial buying responsibility.
“The highly skilled judges, the opportunity to compete alongside thousands of outstanding spirits from across the globe, and the rigorous evaluation of quality, value, and packaging make the London Spirits Competition awards highly sought-after,” said Neil Harrison, Nelson’s Distillery & School founder, owner and Master Distiller.
“We are delighted that our Nelson’s London Dry No.7 achieved such remarkable results at the competition.
“This silver medal showcases that our spirits align with the preferences of bar managers, mixologists, and spirit enthusiasts alike.”
Nelson’s London Dry No.7 was Neil’s original creation and is described as a gin with “gentle citrus and juniper on nose and palate with a balanced smooth and round finish.” It’s blend of 27 botanicals forms the base to all Nelson’s core gins.
