A leading Newcastle-under-Lyme packaging manufacturing and distribution company has launched a £5 million investment programme.
Advanced Packaging, an independent family-run company with more than 30 years of experience in the packaging industry, is poised to move to a new headquarters.
The move will also see the installation of state-of-the-art new machinery which will enhance the manufacturing capabilities across a variety of sectors including food, engineering, automotive, chemicals, pottery and retail.
A new machine that produces “boxes on demand” is already giving Advanced Packaging the ability to supply small quantities of common styles of boxes without the need for customers to pay an additional tooling charge.
“The investment will enable us to further enhance our service offering through improvements in productivity and a wider product range,” said Director Mark Richards. “It will also give us the ability to react quickly to urgent customer requirements.”
Advanced Packaging prides itself on flexible service combining manufacture and distribution, tailored to suit customers’ requirements.
Unlike many other packaging distributors, it offers a bespoke manufacturing service in-house, supplying specific solutions from e-commerce boxes to corrugated packaging for heavy industrial applications.
Operating within a 60-mile radius of its factory, the business offers extensive technical support to its clients.
“We ensure that our customers are making the best decisions in terms of protecting their product while being environmentally friendly in choosing material that is both recycled and fully recyclable,” Mark added.
“Many of our competitors have a vast range of products to sell so do not always have the expertise in box design and manufacturing.”
The company’s new headquarters are situated on Parkhouse Industrial Estate West, from which they currently operate from a different unit.
It will have a floor space of around 45,000 square feet and will be fitted with around 200 solar panels which will provide a large proportion of the company’s power requirements.
Advanced Packaging has already increased its workforce in preparation for its move and to allow it to cope with current and future demand.
