A new Greek bakery-come-taverna is enjoying “fantastic success” since opening at The Trentham Estate

Daily Focus reported in February that Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Anasma Greek Bakery was to open a second venue.

Anasma Greek Eatery began welcoming diners to its new place within Trentham’s shopping village on 10 April.

It has been so popular that there are now waiting lists in place for tables on Fridays and Saturdays over the next few weeks. Many bookings have also been made for June already.

Anasma's owner Marianna Anastasiou

Owner Marianna Anastasiou said: “We were expecting good support because we have so many regulars in Newcastle but Trentham has become a fantastic success – we weren’t expecting it to be so busy and popular so quickly.

“There have been a few problems, such as our software not working, but we’re trying our best and doing better every day.

“The messages I have read suggest everyone is very pleased with our food and that makes me very pleased.

“I’m really grateful for the support.”

The new venue, above, which has replaced the Riverside café, is over three times bigger than Anasma’s bakery in Newcastle and serves a greater variety of dishes. Diners can enjoy traditional Greek dishes such as gyros and souvlaki.

Some tweaks have been made to the menu since opening, based on customer feedback.

Marianna’s plans for the eatery include revamping its outside dining area, which is set to get underway soon.
