A Stoke-on-Trent-based accountancy firm has been ranked as the 14th best Small and Medium Sized Enterprise in the country for taking on apprentices.

DJH Mitten Clarke, who have recently expanded, have been praised for going the extra mile to provide apprenticeship opportunities.

The company was listed at number 14 in a Top Fifty nationwide list compiled by the Department for Education in collaboration with High Fliers Research

The Department carries out a national exercise to independently assess and rank the nation’s top apprenticeship employers.

DJH Mitten Clarke’s impressive ranking reflects the diversity of the apprentices who are recruited from a wide range of backgrounds for roles across all areas of the business (from accounts and audit to marketing and IT).

It also takes into account the number of recruits who have successfully achieved an apprenticeship qualification in the last 12 months.

James Beardmore, Chief Operating Officer, said: “As a business, we’re passionate about recruiting at grass roots and bringing in trainees from local schools, colleges and universities, developing them through the ranks with our comprehensive apprenticeship programmes.

“We offer an extensive study package for our apprentices, which includes fully-funded training and study support.

“Our apprentices gain real world experience and training on-the-job to complement their studies, with paid study days to help them prepare for their exams.

“Being ranked 14th in the UK is a huge achievement and demonstrates our commitment to early careers and our people first approach.

“I am incredibly proud of all our apprentices, who are guided through their studies with our dedicated Learning and Development Co-ordinator, Chris Rawlinson.”

DJH Mitten Clarke, headquartered at Festival Park, recently appointed a new Chief Financial Officer and invested £200,000 into a refit of offices in Manchester’s business district.
