Five businesses in Tamworth’s town centre have been awarded a total of £20,300 in new grants to help them grow.
Tamworth Borough Council has awarded the grants as part of its Tell Your Story scheme, which was previously covered in Daily Focus and was aimed at helping small businesses develop their engagement with new customers.
Elite Group, based at Tamworth Enterprise Centre, picked up the highest amount of funding, receiving £5,400 to deliver and promote a marketing and website development package for small businesses.
Meanwhile, Fifty-Two Degrees North secured £4,500 to promote its business, improve visibility and implement digital software strategies.
Tattoo removal firm SkintonicAllure received £4,000, hospitality business The Peel Aldergate and Christophers will spend its £3,300 of funding on an augmented reality package and barber shop Menzair will spend the £3,100 it has received on a marketing campaign to reach a customer base that involves young people and children with neurodivergence and special needs.
Councillor Paul Turner, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to award these new grants to support our town centre businesses during these very challenging times.
“We know many businesses, shops and restaurants are working under very different conditions with the cost-of-living crisis and inflation. Therefore, we really want to reach out and offer additional business support.
“We believe that these grants and supporting workshops, can go a long way in helping businesses market their USP, build their brand recognition, upgrade their digital support and drive their business growth.”
Grants were available to new and existing businesses with a fixed premises based in the town centre.
Money came from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the scheme operated on a match-funded basis.
Free workshops were included in the grant application.
