Two sisters with a passion for sustainable living have launched their own shop.
Wendy and Sarah Lees set up their business after feeling frustrated with the lack of eco options on the high street.
During three years of pop-ups, markets and fairs, they have been recognised for their efforts by the likes of Theo Paphitis’s Small Business Sunday awards and were named the Best Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Company 2023 in the Midlands in the SME UK Enterprise Awards.
Grace & May Home has now joined a group of 30 independent businesses based at The Plant Plot Garden Centre, in Lichfield.
Their shop aims to champion British design and manufacturing and stocks everything from handmade natural deodorants and other self-care items to kitchen goods such as compostable cloths, homewares, refills and stationery.
Sarah said: “We are doing this for our planet and for future generations to come.
“We want people to know that there are alternative, more sustainable options out there.
“Everyone can make a difference. It can start with something as a simple as a bamboo toothbrush or a bar of hand soap.”
She added: “Our shop has something for everyone, regardless of where they are on their eco journey.
“We want to be their ‘go to’ one stop eco shop in the local area.
“We actually use the products we sell ourselves in our own homes and lifestyle so we really love all our products.”
The sisters have a background of working in admin and buying and are using their experience and creative talents to run the business.
Grace & May Home is also a registered Terracycle hub for the local community, allowing customers to drop off hard-to-recycle items such as cheese packaging, bread bags and Pringles tubes which then generate points which can be turned into funding for local schools and charities.
