Commuters have been urged to plan their travel in advance when roadworks commence on the A34 in Stoke-on-Trent next week.
Improvement works to a junction in Trent Vale – covering Newcastle Road, Clayton Lane and Godwin Way – will start on Monday, 26 February.
The work will take approximately eight weeks and see improvements to network efficiency, junction operation and the introduction of pedestrian crossings at the junction of Godwin Way and the north side of Newcastle Road.
There will be temporary signals and lane closures whilst the work takes place, as well as a night time road closure of Clayton Lane and Godwin Way towards the end of the works. A diversion route will be in place during closures.
Councillor Amjid Wazir, cabinet member for city pride, enforcement and sustainability at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “All road users are being asked for their patience during this time.
“These road improvement works will help ease traffic congestion along this route and make it safer for pedestrians. The changes will ultimately form part of the Local Transport Plan.”
