A sports physio expert who started his business career by working out of his car now has a client base of 3,000 including top GB athletes.
Marcus Slade’s Paeon Injury and Fitness Clinic is celebrating its 10th anniversary and such has been its success that its founder is now setting up a second business aimed at developing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the physio industry.
Marcus took a degree in Sports Therapy at University College Birmingham before setting up a solo mobile business.
After running a part-time injury care unit out of his car for a time he went on to take a small room at a local gym to set up the sports injury and fitness clinic Paeon.
“I sourced some old office furniture for about £150, but when we moved in, we had no income, no clients, no business cards – nothing,” he said.
But after a great deal of networking, marketing and hard work, three years later Marcus was given the opportunity by Staffordshire County Council to open up his current premises at Chasewater Country Park, in Burntwood, near Lichfield.
A steady expansion has culminated in a “remarkable” surge during 2023 with a 37 per cent increase in new clients as well as a 42 per cent overall performance boost compared to the previous year.
Last year also saw Paeon’s brand expand with the launch of its first franchise in Leeds.
The clinic has supported organisations like Staffordshire County Council, Ironman UK, the London Marathon and Snap Fitness as well as members of the public up to amateur and professional athletes, including Great Britain representatives in sports like kickboxing.
Clinical Director Marcus said: “Reflecting on the past year, we’re thrilled that it’s been a period of significant growth for us. But our success is not just about numbers.
“These achievements stand as a testament to the trust and support of valued clients and the hard work of our dedicated team members who have fuelled our success over the last decade.
“As we continue to evolve and grow, we remain dedicated to providing the highest level of care and we’re confident that the coming years will bring even more opportunities for us to make a positive impact on people’s lives and to further stand out from the physiotherapy crowd.”
