1 min read

An expert from one of Staffordshire’s leading businesses will share his knowledge on the panel of an online Electric Vehicle conference being hosted by regional transport body Midlands Connect.

Lee Harper, Chief Engineer Electrification/Innovation at JCB, will join the 7 March event which aims to discuss ways of boosting the uptake of electric vehicles in the region.

It will bring together councils, businesses like Uber and political leaders from the region.

During the conference Midlands Connect will outline and release its “State of the Region” data and analysis in relation to electric vehicles and set out what else needs to be done to prepare for the potentially massive electric vehicle uptake.

The online audience will hear about the work of Midlands Connect over the last year to promote the EV cause, including its collaboration with 14 local councils to apply for £40.3 million to get more chargers on to the region’s streets.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Lucy Kavanagh, Deputy Director, Department for Transport.

Panel members will discuss topics including supporting communities, making decarbonised transport accessible and electrifying fleets in the manufacturing and wider business communities.

Lee Harper, who has 17 years of R&D experience at JCB and is a specialist in Automotive Electrical System Design and Integration, will contribute to a discussion on “Electrifying your fleet.”
