Another new independent business is set to open in a popular Leek shopping and leisure spot.

Work has been going on to renovate a unit in Getliffes Yard and turn it into an ice cream parlour for the past few months but Spoilt for Choice is now nearing completion and is expected to open towards the end of this month.

Customers will be able to enjoy Snugbury’s ice cream in a variety of flavours as well as soft serve ice creams, award winning slushies, milkshakes and more.

Its arrival follows the opening of a number of other shops in the cobbled side street, including Gifts by Janson and Kimberley, reported in Daily Focus here, and fragrance shop Feeling Cosy, which was set up at the end of last year.

The ice cream parlour is being launched by the directors of Leek-based slushie firm Slush Ice, which used to manufacture a Great Taste award winning slushie syrup from a base in Station Street before outsourcing that work to concentrate on the new venture.

Spoilt for Choice which is getting set to open at Getliffes Yard.

A spokesman told Daily Focus: “Spoilt for Choice has been in the pipelines for a while now, with a lot of working taking place on the unit to get it just right.

“We’re aiming to get it open by the end of this month and have already had a lot of interest in it, particularly from people who are excited to be able to buy Snugbury’s ice cream in Leek.

“The town is a fantastic place to be based in and we’re looking forward to serving ice cream and treats to people of all demographics. There will even be some vegan choices available.”

The shop will sell Snugbury’s ice cream, soft serve ice creams, slushies, milkshakes and more.

An exact opening date has not yet been decided but will be announced on Spoilt for Choice’s channels on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram
