Traders combine their expertise to open new shop – Feeling Cosy in Leek

1 min read

Two independent traders have come together to launch a new shop in their hometown.

Jody Foxcroft and Megan Green have been running their own businesses online and at local markets over the past few years and became friends through buying each other’s products.

Now they have taken on a unit once occupied by a men’s clothing store in the Getliffes Yard area of Leek.

Feeling Cosy opened last week and offers a variety of fragranced products aimed at promoting self-care and making people feel good about themselves.

Items on offer include eco-friendly candles and wax melts from Megan’s business The Cosy Witch and natural soaps and body care items from Jody’s Wriggly Tin Soaps, which is based on a venture she first launched whilst living in South Africa.

Jody said: “Many people have a lot of pressures in their life. Feeling Cosy aims to offer items and gifts that make people feel good about themselves.

“We want to promote self-care and encourage people to look after themselves.

“The products are all good quality, made by ourselves.”

Jody started her business several years ago when she bought a farm on the side of a mountain in South Africa and used milk from her goats to make her own soap because she couldn’t find alternatives to suit her sensitive skin.

That company continued trading online when Jody, who is originally from Manchester, decided to move back to the UK and set up a home in Leek to be close to a family member.

Now the goats milk used in her products is sourced from a farm in Biddulph.

Jody added: “The Leek and neighbouring communities have been very supportive so far, and we know from doing markets that a lot of people like to shop local.

“We were originally looking for a workshop space, but that was hard to find in Leek so we decided to expand our retail side and were so pleased to take on the shop, especially because we have so many other small businesses around us.”
