Free market stalls for young traders and artists in Tamworth

1 min read

Young traders have been given their very own market day in Tamworth with free stalls available to help their businesses flourish.

Tamworth Borough Council, working with market provider LSD Promotions, has launched two new monthly themed market days, which will be added to the existing popular weekly markets in the town centre.

Young Trader Tuesdays is designed to empower the next generation of entrepreneurial local market traders and till take place on the third Tuesday of every month, launching on 21 May.

Any trader aged between 18 and 30 with a passion for turning a hobby into a business venture, or a business owner looking for a cost-effective way of engaging with new potential customers, is encouraged to join.

The market is being introduced at the same time as Art Tuesdays, which will take place on the first Tuesday of every month, starting next week (7 May).

This initiative is aimed at artists and makers of all kinds from across the Midlands looking for a platform to elevate their creative business. Products sold on these stalls must be entirely handmade or represent a local venue or creative organisation.

Both new market days are supported through UK Shared Prosperity Funding and are currently planned to run until the end of March 2025.

Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We are thrilled to be working with LSD Promotions on these two new market day initiatives, adding to our already popular Tamworth town centre market and other specialist market events such as the Dine and Devour happening on the 4 and 5 May.

“It is hoped that these new additional themed markets will support new and small businesses to flourish and encourage more visitors to the town.”

Siobhan Noake of LSD Promotions added: “We are excited to provide a platform for the next generation of entrepreneurs and talented local artists to thrive, our aim is to support creativity, innovation, a welcoming space to share their work with the public and drive economic growth by supporting young talent in our community.”

All traders must have their own public liability insurance.

Assistance will be given with risk assessment requirements.

Checks will be made to make sure the stall holder is eligible for a free pitch.

Anyone interested in receiving a free stall should contact [email protected] or call 01384 877 336.
