Reliance Medical have been named a finalist in the Innovation, Science, and Technology category at the 2024 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

This category, sponsored by wealth management experts, Ironmarket Wealth, celebrates businesses that utilise innovation and cutting edge science and technology to drive product development and business growth.

As the UK’s leading trade supplier and manufacturer of first aid and medical supplies, Reliance Medical continues to exceed expectations with its ground-breaking contributions to the industry. With over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring annually in the UK, the company is dedicated to enhancing the accessibility and effectiveness of AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators).

In a record-breaking achievement last year, Reliance Medical provided 20,000 lifesaving AEDs to public places across the UK.

This year, the company is launching a revolutionary AED cabinet designed to automatically heat or cool the AED, ensuring optimal operating temperatures regardless of weather conditions. This cabinet, capable of housing any AED on the market, was developed by Reliance’s innovative team in Stoke-on-Trent. Its robust design ensures durability in harsh weather conditions, making AEDs more accessible in outdoor public areas.

In a sector-first initiative, Reliance Medical also developed the “Tell Arnie” app, a comprehensive first aid kit management and accident reporting solution. This advanced software allows businesses to enhance workplace safety by enabling Health and Safety Officers to report accidents, register first aid kits via mobile scanning, monitor usage, and ensure legal compliance.

The app, which provides real-time location-based data, is available for free on Android and Apple devices.

The winner of the award will be announced at the highly-anticipated Gala Awards evening, taking place on Thursday, 4 July at the Doubletree by Hilton, Festival Park.
