Semantics 21 has been named a finalist in the Innovation, Science, and Technology category at the 2024 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

This category, sponsored by wealth management experts, Ironmarket Wealth, celebrates businesses that utilise innovation and cutting edge science and technology to drive product development and business growth.

Operating in the law enforcement market segment, specifically within digital forensics, Semantics 21 focuses on producing cutting-edge software for child sexual abuse (CSA) investigations. Their innovative solutions are also instrumental in other critical areas such as counter-terrorism and combating organised crime.

The global backlog of CSA cases awaiting examination by digital forensics investigators is a testament to the high rate of digital crimes and the increasing volume and complexity of associated data. Modern digital devices, with their vast storage capacities, exacerbate this situation. For example, a 4TB disk drive can hold about one million photos or more than 560 hours of HD video, significantly increasing the workload for investigators.

Semantics 21 leverages AI technology to provide law enforcement agencies with powerful tools to automate and enhance the analysis of digital media files. As a direct result, agencies worldwide have reported reduced investigation times, lower investigation costs, and increased victim identification rates. Semantics 21 products have not only enhanced the speed and efficiency of investigations but also helped protect investigators from prolonged exposure to disturbing content.

The winner of the award will be announced at the highly-anticipated Gala Awards evening, taking place on Thursday, 4 July at the Doubletree by Hilton, Festival Park.
