A council is inviting businesses to apply for a new town centre ‘experience’ grant to be used to help them attract and reach new customers.

The Tamworth Town Centre Experience Fund offers grants between £1,000 to £10,000 to registered businesses, organisations or traders to deliver projects and activities.

The funding, available through Tamworth Borough Council, is designed to help firms and traders to fund new initiatives that generate or increase footfall to the town centre, improve and add value to Tamworth as a visitor destination, and support tourism, leisure and heritage activity.

The funding can be used towards new projects, products, services, promotional campaigns or events.

Successful applications must use the full grant amount awarded, provide all relevant paid invoices, receipts, and obtain relevant permissions and follow regulations required to deliver their project.

The grant is designed to fund new projects and will not fund existing activities or projects delivered prior to official grant award being made.

All projects must be delivered by 1 March 2025.

More details regarding the grant criteria and how to apply can be found on the council website here

Eligible applicants must be:

  • Tamworth based business with fewer than 250 employees.
  • Business operating for more than six months.
  • Business registered with HMRC or as a registered company on companies house.

Businesses who have received grant funding in the past may apply, provided they have fully fulfilled the previous grant scheme terms and conditions.

Deadline for submissions is 13 May 2024 at 2pm.

Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council said: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of this new grant scheme to support our town centre and encourage people to visit Tamworth.

“Successful applications will use the funding to help attract new and reoccurring customers to the town centre, supporting not only the applicant’s business, but the wider town centre economy. With the aim of supporting local business growth, and potentially attract future investment to the town.

“We hope these grants will help local businesses continue to raise Tamworth’s profile as a destination to visit, and increase awareness of our town’s businesses, attractions and great assets.”
