Keele University Apprenticeships host free workshops for anyone interested in a career in social work

1 min read

Free workshops are being held for employers, employees and potential applicants to find out more about a proposed Social Worker Apprenticeship being launched at Keele University

The programme which is subject to validation but expected to launch in early 2025, will give apprentices the chance to become a Registered Social Worker.

Anyone who already holds a degree and is interested in social work as a career is invited to a pre-application day being held at the Think Lab at Keele Business School on Monday, 8 July.

Led by the social work team at the university, the event offers the chance to find out more about the career path and what the apprenticeship will entail. There will also be advice given on how to structure your application and interview guidance.

Carolyn Gair, Lecturer in Social Work, said: “We recognise people may be nervous about changing their career, want more information about what the apprenticeship might look like or how they even start to think about an application.

“The idea of these events is to provide information and support to give those people the confidence to apply.”

The apprenticeship, which awards a Postgraduate Diploma qualification, has been designed to ensure participants are equipped to work in partnership with adults, children, carers and families in a range of different settings.

Two pre-application workshop sessions have been arranged on Monday 8 July, both of which include refreshments and lunch.

The sessions are identical, so you only need to attend one. The first takes place between 9.30am and 1.30pm, whilst the second session runs from 1pm until 4pm.

Spaces are limited.

You can find more information and secure your place for the in-person sessions here

An additional webinar has also been arranged if you are unable to attend a face-to-face workshop, these are at 10am and 12pm on Tuesday, 16 July and you can register here
