Thousands of new jobs are set to be created in the area after a new commercial and business park was given the green light.
Weston M6, which is being built by UK-wide developer Muse, will be located near to the A500 Shavington Bypass in the Basford east neighbourhood of Crewe.
Cheshire East Council has granted planning permission for the development spanning nearly 1.2 million sq. ft of space, which is anticipated to create 2,900 new jobs upon completion of the site – benefitting potential workforces across Staffordshire, Cheshire and the wider region.
There will also be 165 jobs provided during the construction phase.
Plans for Weston M6 show it will be comprised of six logistics and industrial units and a further five office blocks will provide around 1000,000 sq ft of space.
Muse have said their aim is to create a “holistic working environment” that prioritises the health and wellbeing of employees, visitors, and neighbours.
Therefore the plan is to provide a network of footpaths, cycleways, pocket parks, and nature trails, which will weave through Weston M6 to create high-quality workspaces surrounded by greenery and nature.
Sarah Chicken, Development Manager, pictured above, said: “Everyone wants to work in an environment that prioritises not only productivity but also well-being.
“With its seamless integration of nature, cutting-edge sustainability features, and prime location, Weston M6 offers a workplace of the future. It has been designed to put people at the forefront of the development by creating a workplace setting that fosters creativity, collaboration and most importantly, health.
“Businesses across the nation are eager to invest in Crewe. Not only does the town’s location make it ideal for accessing regional and international markets, but Crewe itself is renowned for its innovation and skilled workforce.
With the introduction of Weston M6, we are confident that Crewe will continue to attract forward-thinking companies and drive growth for years to come. ”
The approved planning application grants detailed permission for Phase One of the site, which includes three of the logistics units. The remaining three units and office space have been granted outline permission, establishing the principle of the development.
A further Reserved Matters Application to agree the details of Phase Two will come forward before the end of 2024.
