An expert team of corporate, sports and commercial property lawyers from Beswicks Legal have advised on the acquisition of Burton Albion FC by a group of European businessmen and investors.

The deal involving Nordic Football Group (NFG) was completed following approval from the English Football League.

NFG comprises a management team, advisors, and investors from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, and Finland.

The League One Club’s newly formed Board of Directors sees Ole Jakob Strandhagen appointed as Chairman, NFG’s Founder and CEO Tom Davidson as Deputy Chairman, Bendik Hareide as Sporting Director, while Kevin C. Skabo will take up the role of Commercial Director

A multi-disciplinary team from Stoke-on-Trent-based Beswicks Legal including Peter Ellis and David Morgan (Corporate), Laura Pyatt and Jacob Vernon (Commercial Property) and Tim Bailey (sports, football and EFL regulatory) advised NFG on the acquisition.

Commenting on the deal, Nordic Football Group UK Limited CEO and Founder Tom Davidson said: “We are very excited to have completed our acquisition of Burton Albion and to begin our journey as the club’s new custodians.

“We are very pleased that Tim, David, Peter and the rest of the Beswicks team were able to help us achieve this and are grateful for the proactive and professional manner in which they represented us.

“The range of services they provided particularly their corporate, property and sports advice was invaluable.”

Corporate Senior Associate David Morgan said: “It was a pleasure to act for NFG on the acquisition of Burton Albion Football Club. We have significant expertise within the team of sports mergers and acquisitions, so this particular transaction along with the recent deal to acquire Huddersfield Town really did play to all our strengths.

“We wish the new owners and the club well and look forward to following the developments on and off the pitch.”
