‘Pop-up park’ returns to Newcastle-under-Lyme as series of free summer events revealed

Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre is celebrating the return of its ‘pop-up park,’ now prominently located outside the Guildhall on High Street, as it gears up to host a series of free events throughout the summer holidays.

Following the success of last year’s installation at Red Lion Square, the Newcastle-under-Lyme BID have brought back the urban green space, designed to enhance the town’s visual appeal and improve overall ambience.

Charlotte Pearce, Newcastle-under-Lyme BID Manager, said: “It’s so great to bring the Pop-Up Park back to Newcastle for the summer months”.

“Last year was a roaring success and we had nothing but positive feedback from those attending our weekly sessions.  This is a green space in the town, for the town, and the feedback we’ve already had and the amount of people utilising the space has been great.

“The area brings a pop of colour and area of reprise to the High Street and we’re keen for people to utilise it.  Whether that’s reading a book, drinking a coffee from a local business or enjoying a bite to eat away from the office! During sunnier days we’ll also be popping out toys and books for children.”

A full schedule of activities for the summer holidays is available on the BID’s social media channels.

Charlotte added: “We do ask that those visiting the park think green and keep it clean by using bins located near the area for rubbish so that it remains a space that everyone can enjoy.

“We understand that school holidays can be costly to entertain and engage children and as such, the free activities will offer parents a cost-effective way to entertain children while staying in their local area”.
