A new business survey aimed at mapping the growth and challenges of the digital and IT sector in North Staffordshire has been launched by the University of Staffordshire and the University of Manchester.
This initiative seeks to provide crucial insights into the region’s digital landscape, with a goal to attract global investment and enhance collaboration within the local IT sector.
The survey, which covers businesses operating in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and the Staffordshire Moorlands, is part of a larger research project designed to understand the evolving opportunities and barriers faced by digital and IT companies in the region. By shining a light on the sector’s strengths, the project aims to raise its profile to potential investors, policymakers, and tech professionals.
Professor Jon Fairburn, a leading member of the research team based at University of Staffordshire, said: “The IT sector in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire ranks among the most productive in the country.
“However, there is a lingering misconception that the local workforce lacks the necessary skills. Our aim with this research is to challenge these outdated perceptions, highlighting the region’s strengths to attract global IT investment.
“We also hope to unite the local IT sector, to enable greater collaboration that will drive innovation and future growth.”
Digital and IT businesses in the region are encouraged to take part by visiting this link.
The survey is open to all digital businesses, including tech start-ups, software companies, and digital marketing agencies. Businesses that complete the survey will be entered into a lottery to win one of five £100 Love to Shop vouchers, redeemable at over 90 popular retailers across the UK.
An advisory board of local experts is guiding the project, including members from the Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce, Silicon Stoke Board, and other local digital influencers.
This survey represents a major opportunity for North Staffordshire’s digital sector to have its voice heard. By participating, local businesses can shape the future of this booming industry and help attract the attention of investors and talent.
