Mental Elf 2024: Charity seeks business support for festive 5km fundraiser

1 min read

An appeal has gone out to businesses to support a Christmas-themed fun run to help raise money for and awareness of the need for better mental wellbeing in Staffordshire.

North Staffs Mind is bringing its Mental Elf 5km festive fun run back to Trentham Gardens after holding the inaugural event last year.

The event is open to all abilities and ages – and elf/fancy dress costumes are encouraged.

More than 350 people took part last year, and organisers are hoping to attract 600 fun runners and walkers this time.

Sponsorship packages for businesses start at £250.

Steve Channon, Income and Engagement Lead at North Staffs Mind, said: “Corporate sponsorship is key to us for this event, and we have flexible packages which allow us to work with businesses to help them get the best out of their sponsorship.

“Like with all our major fundraising events, the money we raise is ringfenced for services that otherwise wouldn’t exist including telephone support lines and drop-in groups for vulnerable teenagers.”

The festive fun run starts at 12pm on Sunday, 1 December and there will be prizes for the best dressed elf.

Discounts are available for family and group/corporate teams.

Access will be free for spectators.

Steve added: “Last year’s Mental Elf run was a fantastic event with everyone from runners to parents pushing pushchairs and people walking their dogs taking part.

“The fact that so many people were in fancy dress made it really fun.

“This year’s event will be another great day out for the whole family.”

Last year, North Staffs Mind supported over 12,000 children, young people, and adults throughout Staffordshire.
