More than just a food festival: New event wants to connect with the community

2 mins read

A new bi-monthly food festival coming to part of Stoke-on-Trent has promised to be an “unforgettable experience for food lovers of all ages”.

The Feast plans to bring together the city’s finest food vendors each offering a creative twist on ingredients to showcase local culinary talent in “ways never seen before”.

Taking place in Stoke town centre on Saturday, 2 November, the free event will feature interactive workshops, live demonstrations and educational talks – and visitors have been told to expect a few surprises too.

It has been organised by imaginative dining experience FEASTED, which is based in the town and is also hosting an immersive ghost walk combined with gastronomic pit stops later this month.

FEASTED Chef Cris Cohen said: “FEASTED is proud to collaborate with local businesses, chefs, and artisans who share a commitment to creativity, sustainability, and community. This event not only highlights Stoke’s vibrant food scene but also sparks conversations about the future of food and how local communities can shape tomorrow’s dining experiences.

“We want people to come with an open mind and leave feeling inspired. Whether you’re here to try something new, learn a new skill, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, our festival is all about celebrating the joy of food and thinking differently about what we eat.”

Workshops will cover topics such as fermentation and reducing food waste, whilst the educational talks will cover sustainable food practices, the future of farming, and the importance of seasonal eating.

There will also be children’s workshops, interactive food stations, and family-friendly activities.

The event, which is also pet-friendly, will take place on Market Square between 11am and 6pm.

It has been funded by Stoke High Street Accelerator Project in association with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the UK Government.

Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, the city council’s cabinet member for infrastructure, transport and regeneration, said: “We are pleased to have been able to support FEASTED with their programme of events with funding from the High Street Accelerators Programme.

“We know that they are extremely passionate about Stoke-on-Trent and we welcome their efforts to put on new and exciting initiatives for residents of the city.”

FEASTED’s highly-acclaimed Chef’s Table experience was set to close at the end of this month but Cris announced yesterday that it will remain at its current location at ACAVA Spode, in Stoke, for an additional six months whilst preparing for “an exciting move” in 2025.

A festive winter menu is due out soon and, in the meantime, the team are preparing for an event in Stoke combining a guided ghost walk, pit stops to sample locally-crafted dishes and drinks and live storytelling to bring the city’s haunted past to life.

Ghostronomy, also funded by the Stoke High Street Accelerator Project, runs between 31 October and 2 November, with a family-friendly ghost walk available on Halloween itself.
