A butcher whose family served shoppers in Newcastle-under-Lyme for more than 100 years was recognised for his work has been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Henry Cheadle of Cheadle’s Butchers picked up the accolade at the 2024 LoveNUL Business Awards, organised by Newcastle-under-Lyme Business Improvement District (BID), following his retirement earlier this year.
Before then, four generations of the Cheadle’s had traded in Newcastle-under-Lyme since 1919.
Henry was one of more than a dozen winners in the awards to celebrate business excellence, held on Thursday.
BID Co-Chair Jane Tunnicliff, Group Head of Employer Engagement & Training at NSCG Newcastle College, who hosted and presented the awards at Keele University, said: “It’s impossible to imagine how many Sunday dinners, BBQs and Christmases have been made special with Cheadles’ produce over the years.
“Their family business was more than just a shop, it was a cherished part of our town. We want to take this moment to thank Henry for his decades of service.”
She added: “I was delighted to host the LoveNUL Business Awards at the Denise Coates Foundation Building this year.
“Bringing so many businesses together is a great opportunity to shine a light on the incredible businesses we have in our local area. It’s a privilege to work alongside such a passionate and thriving community who Love NUL and I look forward to seeing these businesses continue to grow and prosper.”
